This is your chance to drop by the Chicago School of Shoemaking and see what we’re up to over there! Check out the leather projects and the shoe options and meet the Master Cobbler. Hope to see you!! 11-7 on Saturday and 11-6 on Sunday. Look for the school banner over the front windows and enter on the North side. 4723 N Winchester. Just South of Lawrence and East of Damen.
We’ve got a lot of new things going at the school—one of which is a new classroom across the courtyard!
This will allow us to hold classes in 2 spaces at once. We have a new class starting on the 20th called Intermediate Leather Work, designed to take the Exploring Leather work to the next level. We’ll be focusing on finer skills, hand stitching and lacing, more knowledge and experience with vegetable tanned leather and interesting handles and zipper installation. We don’t have the syllabus completed at this time, but I know many of you have been waiting for the next class in the series. We will still be running the Exploring Leather Work on Tuesday nights for 6 weeks for those of you who want to repeat that class. As you know, we’ll still be doing similar projects as before, but there’s always new leathers and hardware to incorporate.
And for those who are itching to jump into independent bench time, we are VERY close to having the new space done which will house that. I really appreciate your patience with us as we’ve been finalizing details on a system that will keep that space and tools available for you on a pretty regular basis.
Please sign up asap—there are only 6 spaces in each class.
Please tell your friends to visit us at the Renegade Craft Show this weekend. We are displaying the leather projects and shoemaking process that the school is offering. For $5 you can make a cool leather piece out of the materials we’re bringing to get you excited about taking a class. In exchange, you get a coupon for $5 off a leather working class or $50 off a shoemaking class! Love to see you at the show.
Booth #76 is near the corner of Division and Honore.
Crazy busy at the school these days. Making shoes, wishing we had more time to design sandals for the sandal making class (stay tuned) Exploring Leather Work Class (6/19-7/24)–only a few spots left. We’ll be posting the rest of the summer classes by the first week in June so you can plan your Summer Fun at the Chicago School of Shoemaking. Leather Work 101 is still the class fave–and is a great stepping stone to the Basic Shoemaking Class.
Chicago loves the Chicago School of Shoemaking and Leather work!!
We’re rounding the corner towards Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, my birthday :)) and a number of special events. So here’s just the class to make those special gifts. You have ample time in a 4 hour class to design, construct and decorate a belt, wallet, pouch, kindle cover, clutch, a few cuffs or a string bag. Look at what some students recently created and get inspired. This is a one time event–so join us on Saturday May 5th for the ride!
